self portrait study

Necessity is the mother of invention, so the saying goes. Out of necessity we’ve created a bunch of self portraits, in what we like to call, ‘the long arm’ method. We’ve been lots of places where we like to take photos and we both like to be in them, so…what you see is what we got.

I’ve also been fussing around with a new photo and video editing software, so I came up with a montage of self portraits. It’s not long enough where you’ll need popcorn, but you can have some if you like.

  1. Those are some awesome pictures! I can never get those pictures to look good.

I love the fact you can see the “Objects in Mirror…” statement in the one picture that shows up before you press play for the video. πŸ™‚

P.S. I finally posted on my blog! πŸ™‚

  2. Are you kidding? This was great! I’m crying now, I love happy endings :sob sob:

Carla, what editing program did you use? I really liked how you put this together — and if this had been a trailer for a new romantic movie, I’d say that you and Sweet Husband have perfect onscreen chemistry!

  3. Carla, You left a message on my blog ( and I wanted to send you a note, but there is no contact information for you here. Please drop me a line at

I liked your “long arm” photo method when I try that it does not work so well! I think I recognized Spencer Beach and Akaka Falls? Did you use Microsoft Photostory to put your video together? Great job. I am trying to figure out where you live… someplace where it snows! I also see that we have one common blog that we follow, Rubber Slippers in Italy.

    • That comment calls for a HUGE laugh…there would never be a movie about us, we’re too boring.

As for the editing software, I use the Cyberlink Power Director Deluxe. I read lots of reports, studies and comments and this one came up with the most positive things. It’s pretty easy, which is a plus for me….dur!
